Depending on the number of residents wishing to participate in room sign up, multiple rounds of appointment times may be given until all returning student spaces are contracted. Although most students receive appointment times to choose, some students will be assigned a space. This could be due to a variety of reasons (e.g., a roommate pulls you into a space; you are participating in a special program; you have a later housing registration date).

Residence Hall Checkout Deadline For Residents Not Participating In Commencement

Similar to the UGA Code of Conduct, you should be familiar with the policies and guidelines set forth in the guide. May/Extended Session Move-In
Undergoing renovations for summer 2024, Boggs Hall will have enhanced and updated lobby, lounge, laundry, community bathroom and kitchen spaces. Residents enjoy its in-room sinks, room size and proximity to Bolton Dining Commons and the Tate Student Center. Boggs Hall is one of six halls that accommodates supplemental housing. All residence halls have secure two-factor building access, WiFi and Ethernet internet access, laundry rooms, study lounges, community kitchens and access to a 24-hour desk. These actions may occur simultaneously, separately and/or independently. Soule Hall is the oldest residence hall at the university and is the only hall reserved for women.
University Village/Health Sciences Campus Contracts End For Non-Returning Students
Any damage found in your room—as well as missing or lost keys—may result in a fee that will be applied to your student account. Current rates are per resident per term, include a programming fee and have been approved by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. Students may start receiving mail and package the day of their check in. Please do not plan to have anything arrive prior to your check-in date, as it may be returned to sender. Roommate option contracts are also available for independent graduate or medical students wishing to share a townhome with another student of the same gender. Recycling stations will be set up near dumpsters during move in to collect Styrofoam, plastic film and cardboard. University Housing recommends that students obtain some type of renter’s insurance whether that be a special policy or as a part of the parents’ homeowner policy.

For most students, move in for fall 2024 begins Friday, August 9. More information will be added to this page as details are finalized. Residents who develop interpersonal skills will more effectively communicate and engage with the world around them. Communication is the process in which one shares and receives information and ideas. Recognizing one’s own worldview and perspectives is key to understanding and being understood.
First-year students are required to live on campus and should start by using the drop-down menu above to learn about the first year live-on requirement and to register for housing. When you register for housing, you will pay a non-refundable registration fee of $35. You will sign/execute your contract in the summer after you choose your building and room assignment. However, you must pay your UGA commitment deposit by the May 1 deadline in order to receive an appointment time to choose a space.
First-year undergraduate students enrolled as full-time students, as defined by the Office of the Registrar, are required to live in campus residence halls. Students first enrolling in the summer are required to live in the residence halls during the summer, fall and spring semesters. Students first enrolling in the fall are required to live in the residence halls during the fall and spring semesters. Students first enrolling in the spring are required to live in the residence halls during the spring semester. Orientation leaders and other staff members live in the building. Please be respectful of their living space by observing quiet hours. For students, housing during First-Year Orientation is in Black-Diallo-Miller Hall (315 Baxter St., Athens, GA 30609). Unless you are participating in commencement, you must check out within 24 hours of your last final exam. Exceptions include residents with summer contracts in Rooker, McWhorter, Busbee, Health Sciences Campus and University Village.
Residents will view healthy relationships as a building block of community. Multiple definitions of community exist with many featuring language around shared traits, locations, or characteristics. Our definition of community will be based on this and the idea that community is dynamic. Residents (will leave) with strategies to create community in multiple settings.
